2025 BISL Champs - Samarra FC
Jerusalem and Samarra may have played the most boring finals for 40 minutes. But they saved the best for last. Samarra jumped out to a 1-0 lead just before halftime with Fawad Akram scoring on a long ball from his keeper Hannan Ghafoor. Jerusalem were played shorthanded without their captain and top 2 forward Azan Ali. However, they tied it up early in the second half on a Zain Khilji dandy. A rare blunder by Jerusalem keeper gifted Fawad an empty net goal. Samarra found another on the counter by Sikandar Khan with 10 minutes to play to put wraps on the game (or so we thought). With 5 minutes left to play, Jerusalem threw everything at Samarra. A broken play resulted in Haider Khan scoring to make it 3-2. In the final play of the match, Jerusalem put a shot on net and a rebound landed on Umair Ashraf's feet on the goal line to tap in the equalizer. A final blitz got Jerusalem 2 goals in the final 2 minutes. Off to penalties.
